ABOUT LAURI EXLEY

Getting to know Lauri

Hi! I’m Lauri, and I believe therapy begins with creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and genuinely heard. My approach is collaborative and centered around your individual needs, goals, and experiences. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I draw from a variety of evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Brainspotting, among others. This allows me to tailor therapy to you and the challenges you are navigating.

I specialize in working with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and the many transitions that can come with adulthood and mid-life. I am also certified in Peri/Menopause Behavioral Health, with a particular interest in supporting women through the physical, emotional, and psychological changes that accompany perimenopause and menopause. This stage of life can bring unexpected shifts in mood, identity, relationships, confidence, and overall well-being. I provide a space to better understand these changes, reconnect with yourself, and develop tools to move through this transition with greater clarity and self-compassion.

I am especially passionate about Brainspotting and its ability to help clients work through experiences that can feel difficult to access through traditional talk therapy. I also enjoy working with couples and helping partners strengthen communication, understand their relationship patterns, increase emotional connection, and create a greater sense of safety and security within their relationship.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Communication from Arizona State University. Having earned my master’s later in life, I bring a lifetime of experience building relationships, navigating change, and understanding the complexities of being an adult, partner, parent, and professional. I believe those experiences help me meet clients with authenticity, compassion, and without judgment.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my kids and friends, hiking, reading, binge-watching Netflix, and playing with my puppy. I look forward to creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel supported, empowered, and confident in your ability to move forward.
