Nicole Horton
Counseling Intern
Hi! I’m Nicole. I believe therapy is a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and find clarity amid life’s noise and complexity. Growth rarely happens by forcing change; instead, it unfolds when we feel safe, heard, and supported in making sense of where we’ve been and where we want to go.
Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado. My career path has spanned diverse fields, from fast-paced roles in entertainment to human-centered work in healthcare recruiting. Navigating these varied environments taught me how deeply our day-to-day work, systems, and life shifts impact our mental health. It also reinforced my passion for meeting people where they are with genuine empathy and grounded perspective.
My clinical style is collaborative, warm, and mind-body informed. Grounded in a person-centered foundation, I draw heavily on mindfulness, somatic awareness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I focus on helping you cultivate self-compassion, tune into your body’s signals, and align your choices with what truly matters to you. For thoughts and feelings that are hard to capture in words alone, I welcome creative pathways into our sessions to help process complex emotions.
I am especially passionate about supporting adolescents and adults as they navigate anxiety and daily stress, major life transitions, and identity exploration. Additional areas of interest include family systems, relationship patterns, and communication dynamics, as well as grief, loss, and unexpected change.
Outside of counseling, I’m most in my element when I’m outdoors, whether that’s camping, hiking, or simply lounging in a park in the sun. I also love cooking, songwriting, and a good ole' Netflix binge.
I am honored to support my clients as they learn, heal, and step into the most authentic versions of themselves.
