Kiana Portillo, BA Counseling Intern

Hi! My name is Kiana, and I am currently a student pursuing my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at University of Northern Colorado. I have a background working in pediatric mental health at Children’s Hospital’s inpatient psychiatric unit and am extremely passionate about continuing my education and developing my practice. As a practicum student and intern at Creekside Collaborative therapy, my goal is to create a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients in order to allow safe self-expression and personal growth. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, strengths based, and person centered while utilizing elements of other evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, indoor rock climbing, yoga, baking, reading, watching scary movies, binge watching reality tv, and spending time with my friends, family, and two cats!

I am excited to be a part of my client’s process of learning, healing, and growing to become the most authentic versions of themselves!
