“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul” – Carl Jung
As a budding clinician, it is so important to me that I be authentic as possible when meeting you. I strive to have a real interaction with you that is both meaningful and therapeutic. As a believer in humanistic psychology, I believe people are unique and capable of growth, creativity, and self-fulfillment. I strongly resonate with client-centered therapy, which holds the belief that people are experts on their own lives, and the therapist’s role is to help guide them in exploring and understanding themselves.
I also blend concepts of positive psychology, which focuses on what brings happiness and well-being in your life, and figuring out ways to increase these strengths. Sometimes modern psychology focuses too much on removing bad things from someone’s life, and forgets to look at what are the good things in your life. Other elements of my approach include cognitive behavioral therapy, which includes challenging the negative self-beliefs that we often believe about ourselves. Finally, culture can be very important to someone’s healing journey and I venture to hold a special place for this. Everybody is unique and different, and I strive to be considerate of these differences and encourage clients to define what healing looks like for them.
I am in a Master’s in Counseling Psychology program at the University of Denver and currently hold associates and bachelors degrees in Psychology from Fort Lewis College and San Juan College. I have previous experience working in a crisis stability unit, as well as with college students in a peer support context.
When I am not studying or working, I love to train in mixed martial arts. I also am a hobbyist photographer and enjoy shooting nature and wildlife photography. Going to the gym, spending time with friends, and playing videogames are other outlets of mine to enjoy this wild life we all live!
